Inline girdles help provide some protection against falls and shots while being lighter, more breathable, streamlined and flexible than ice hockey pants. 

If you want maximum protection, look at the ice hockey girdles from CCM, True and Warrior. These will add a little bulk and are heavier than inline girdles, but are definitely more protective and are still lighter and less bulky than ice hockey pants. The hip protection will really lessen the impact of hard falls and the thigh protection will hold up to heavy slap shots. 

The lighter and more breathable Mission Core will offer some protection, but aren’t meant for shot blockers or heavy falls. You’ll feel hard shots and falls, they’ll just sting slightly less than if you weren’t wearing a girdle at all. 

The Mission Compression girdle is more protective than the Core, but not as protective as one of the ice hockey options – it’s certainly lighter and far more streamlined than the ice girdles though. 

Alkali and Tour also offer light, form fitting options that try to balance mobility, ventilation and protection.
